A house concert is a complete concert performance with professional musicians, the venue just happens to be our home.
Each year Home Routes curates a line-up of the best touring artists from Canada and beyond to tour through Manitoban homes. This is our third year with Home Routes, and we are impressed by both the quality and the diversity of performances we’ve experienced.
We are Chris, Caitlin, Maggie and Jane. We have a Brittany Spaniel named Casey who likes to walk around saying hello during concerts. We also have a cat named Kevin who hides out upstairs.
The doors open 30 minutes before the show starts so there is ample time to pour any beverages you brought, get a snack and find a seat.
The people in attendance will be mostly friends, friends of friends, neighbours, co-workers and family members of the hosts. We shoot for at least 20 attendees but the more the merrier, and we can accommodate up to 40 for sure!
Concerts generally have 2 one hour sets, with a short intermission to refresh your beverage, grab some food, mingle with other guests, and chat with the musicians.
Most house concerts are acoustic performances by a solo, duo or trio.
Caitlin loves to make food so she will provide snacks and treats for you to nibble on. There’s usually some interesting cheeses, a sweet treat, some popcorn and often a warm beverage on the stove.
The cost is $20/person. All the money goes directly to the musicians. These shows are delivered by professional touring artists who have spent their lifetime learning their trade.

We appreciate early RSVPs so we know how much food and how many chairs are needed, but you are welcome to RSVP as late as the hour before the concert.
Yes! House concerts are a low-key way to introduce kids to a wide variety of musical genres and instruments. Unlike a house party, a house concert is a sit down concert rather than a gathering with background music. This is a great opportunity to teach your kiddo how to be an audience member.
Kids under 12 are free.
Cash for the $20 cover, and extra for any merchandise the artist might be selling.
